The Michigan Area Braves Collegiate summer baseball program ended an impressive 2017 season with its first 27-win season since 2015 and its first NABF World Series appearance since 2014. Led by 2nd-year head coach Zach Mark, the “#BravesTomaHawkChop” finished the year with a 27-13-1 overall record, 19-11 league record and a second-place finish in the Great Lakes UBL before advancing to the NABF World Series, where they took home a 3rd place finish.

Michigan Area Braves Collegiate and Black Blaze played a tight game, but Black Blaze pulled out the 4-3 victory on Saturday. The game was tied at three with Black Blaze batting in the top of the ninth when TJ Lett doubled off of Elijah Abenth, driving in one run. Michigan Area Braves Collegiate took an early lead in the second inning. Jordan Anstandig drove in one when he singled in the second inning. Black Blaze evened things up at two in the top of the fifth inning. A wild pitch by Ben Blake scored one run for Black Blaze.
Dan Walters earned the win for Black Blaze. He pitched six innings, giving up one run, three hits, and walking one. Elijah Abenth took the loss for Michigan Area Braves Collegiate. He went four innings, giving up one run, three hits, striking out three, and walking one. Dan Matle started the game for Black Blaze. He pitched three innings, allowing two runs, two hits, and striking out two. Jason Clark started the game for Michigan Area Braves Collegiate. He went four innings, giving up three runs, five hits, and striking out four.
